| The hotels have been supporters of emerging and independent artists since the Soho Grand opened in 1996 and the Tribeca Grand opened in 2000. Because music is such a big part us, we've put together two compilations that capture the diversity and talent of the current NYC music scene.

| Grand Life - Soho New York The craft of song writing is alive and well in New York. The Soho Grand compilation documents the vibrant local NYC rock scene, from Ted Leo & The Pharmacists to the dance groove beats of !!! and the electronic infused rock of Postal Service. | | | | Grand Life - Tribeca New York "In an honest effort to introduce the unique and various types of music that downtown New York is listening to these days, I have put together a compilation that represents the downtown scene. Most of the bands included in this compilation either have stayed or performed in the Tribeca Grand. As they left an ever lasting effect on the scene we tried to pass this on to you, our guests, to give you a true piece of the city's cutting edge culture through the Tribeca compilation. Enjoy." - Creative Director, Tommy Saleh | | |
| In addition to the Tribeca and Soho Grand Compilations, we also have a selection of the following cd's in our guests' rooms where guests can simply listen to during their stay or if they like they can purchase the cd to take back home.

| Downtown 81 Compilation $20 What a fantastic trip down memory lane this is! As its title suggests, Downtown 81 is set in New York's East Village and Lower East Side in the early '80s; the movie follows Jean (played by then-unknown painter Jean-Michel Basquiat) through blasted streets looking like war zones and in clubs pulsing with ear-melting music. The CD careers from post-punk abrasion (DNA's "Blonde Redhead" and "Detached"), to proto-electronics (Suicide's "Cheree," Plastics' "Copy"), to Latin- and disco-tinged danceathons (Kid Creole & the Coconuts with Coati Mundi's "K Pasa-Pop I"). The most famous melody here may well be the bass line from Liquid Liquid's "Cavern," which was famously sampled on Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines." The intensity is often furthered by the fact that some of these are live versions, and the quality level is high throughout. A great collection for fans of inventive, hard-to-classify music, and a worthy complement to Soul Jazz's New York Noise compilations. | | | | Hot Chip - DJ-Kicks
$20 London's Hot Chip were one of 2006's most talked about bands. For their installment of the legendary DJ-Kicks series, the boys deliver an eclectic mix featuring everything from German minimal techno to classic pop, hip hop, grime, and garage. This mix covers a broad range of styles and truly pulls it off. To top off the mix, they threw in a brand new, exclusive Hot Chip track entitled "Piano Song," which takes their sound to an entirely new level. Whether you're a fan of Hot Chip, the DJ-Kicks series, or just a fan of pop music in general, this is not something you want to miss. | | | | MIXED BY DJ LANGUAGE - Real Music For Real People $20 Selected and mixed by DJ Language (who is also a resident DJ in Church Lounge every Friday night), this collection is a journey through hip-hop, house, disco, broken beat and R&B. Featured artists include Roy Ayers, DJ Mitsu, The Foreign Exchange, Bugz In The Attic, DJ Spinna, the Platinum Pied Pipers, and, yes, even Nas. Real Music For Real People also features extensive liner notes brought to life through the art direction and design of renowned artist Kenzo Minami.
| | | | DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS - Hiding The Keep $20 Hiding The Keep is a soundtrack for the political and emotional fallout from 9/11 and the subsequent war in Iraq. This self-released debut album from Distinguished Members explores the psychological and political effects of these events upon the psyche of the individual and society as a whole and questions the loss of personal freedoms and the general malaise that exists in questioning the decisions that led up to the war. Distinguished Members have a big rock guitar sound that recalls Black Sabbath, Rush, Queens of the Stone Age and the Foo Fighters. For more info you can go to www.Distinguishedmembers.com. | | | | MIXED BY HEADMAN - Relish Compilation $20 Relish Recordings was founded in 2001 by Robi Insinna aka Headman/Manhead. With a selection of recent tracks as well as highlights spanning from the past five years, Headman mixes the various acts and styles that characterize Relish. Featuring two CDs—one mixed and the other non-mixed, the compilation ranges from disco punk remixes by Don Cash to acid house mixes by Riot in Belgium to No Wave mixes by Denis Young.
| | | | JDH & DAVE P - Go Commando with JDH and Dave P $20 DJs JDH and Dave P of New York’s Fixed party fame arrive with the second mix in the Go Commando series. The mix continues the Go Commando tradition of delivering the best in Electro House bangers that will keep you up all night. Featuring tracks and remixes from The Rapture, Gossip, The Knife, Joakim, Fourtet, Soulwax and more!
| | | | NICKODEMUS - Endangered Species $20 Nickodemus, the legendary NYC DJ and founder of Turntables on the Hudson, re-releases his recent debut solo album Endangered Species fortified with essential collaborations and remixes like "Mi Swing Es Tropical" with Quantic and "Cleopatra in New York (Zim Zam Mix)." The album is an explosive block party grab bag of Latin rhythms, Afro-beat grooves, world funk, and hip-hop beats.
| | | | Joakim - Monsters & Silly Songs
$20 Multi-talented artist, deejay, producer, and Tigersushi label owner Joakim is back. After releasing ambient electro-jazz album Tigersushi in 1999 and a second, surprisingly electronic album Fantômes in 2003, Joakim spent the last three years remixing the likes of Tiga, Fisherspooner, Air, and Annie to name a few. In 2007, Joakim has returned with a new musical vision—Monsters & Silly Songs. Heavily influenced by artists like John Carpenter, Aphex Twin, and Arthur Russell, Monsters & Silly Songs brings out the songwriter in Joakim, with a strong emphasis on live instrumentation and performance and a healthy dash of pop melody.
